Invisalign Process

Invisalign Plastic Aligner

The Invisalign process is an exciting treatment that can help you improve your smile without the cumbersome metal braces of traditional processes. Each step of the Invisalign process is designed to help take you on a smooth journey from consultation to confident smile. Learn more about the process that can get you started on Invisalign today.

The Invisalign treatment process begins with scheduling an initial consultation. Dr. Anderson’s office here in Idaho Falls is an experienced Invisalign provider. We are happy to meet with you in person to help you decide if Invisalign is the right choice for your budget and needs. We understand that this is a significant medical and financial decision, and work hard to provide you with all of the information needed to make the most informed and empowered choice.

During the consultation, we will discuss your case in greater detail to determine if you or your loved one is a good candidate for Invisalign. Invisalign is a great solution for many different cases, from simple to complex, and we help create a smile assessment to confirm that Invisalign will best serve your needs. We are also happy to help answer your questions regarding cost, insurance coverage, and any other concerns.

Customized Treatment Plan

Once we’ve determined that Invisalign is a good fit for your needs, we will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth to enable Invisalign to create a unique 3-D image of them. Using these images, we will help you create a unique and precise treatment plan, mapping out the exact movement of your teeth and the approximate length of the treatment.

We also will be able to show you using digital technology just how your teeth will be moving at each phase of the treatment, giving you a clear picture of the changes and effects of each stage. While the length of treatment varies for each patient, for most adults the process takes a year. Treatment for teens has time lengths comparable to braces.

Customized Aligners Based on Plan

Based on the treatment plan, we then make you pairs of custom-fitted, clear aligners made just for you. Made of smooth BPA-free plastic, these aligners are comfortable and sleek, avoiding the irritation and abrasion that traditional metal braces often causes. The aligners are designed to be worn throughout the day and are easily removed for eating, brushing and flossing. These aligners will gradually cause your teeth to shift into place – all while being virtually invisible, giving you a metal-free smile.

New Aligner Every Two Weeks

The treatment plan moves forward in stages approximately every two weeks. With each stage, you get a new set of aligners, advancing the movement of your teeth. You also will have regular check-ins with us to help monitor your progress, usually every 6 weeks or so. For best results, you want to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours each day throughout the treatment process. Each stage will show your progress and forward movement towards having the smile that showcases the best and real you.

Before you know it, you’ll be at the end of your treatment! Congratulations – this is when you get to celebrate your smile. We also will help you determine if a retainer is recommended to help in the maintenance of your teeth’s new positions. Retainers can help you lock in your new and beautiful smile.

The Invislign process is personal, customized to fit you, easy, and painless. It also helps you avoid the common problems with metal braces, and gives you the best possible smile at each step of the way.
