Gum Disease

Over 75% of all adults have some form of gum disease. Gum disease, sometimes call periodontal disease, is a bacterial infection in the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. Gum disease can cause serious loss of your teeth and bone. In fact gum disease has been linked to heart disease, strokes, and complications with pregnancy. If you have swollen and bleeding gums, you need to visit us and let our dentist take a look at you.

Stages of Gum Disease:

Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease. It is characterized by gum tissue that is red, puffy and bleeds easily when touched with a toothbrush, floss or dental instrument.

The next stages are the initial, moderate and advanced periodontal disease. The infection starts destroying the bone supporting the teeth, and causing eventual bone loss.

If you have gum disease, we can stop the infection quickly with our state-of-the-art techniques. Contact Premier Dental Care for your regularly scheduled dentist check-up. If you haven’t seen a dentist in a while, come see our Idaho Falls, experienced dentist, Dr. Tom Anderson, (208) 522-1164.
